About 20 Rabbis Arrested Protesting Trump Travel Ban

The New York Times reports that about 20 rabbis affiliated with a liberal Jewish group were arrested Monday night after blocking the street near the Trump International Hotel and Tower at Columbus Circle in Manhattan to protest the executive order banning travel to America from seven majority-Muslim nations. Citing the Immigration Act of 1924 that restricted immigrants to America, Rabbi Jill Jacobs, the executive director of the rabbinical group T’ruah that organized the protest, said “We know that some of the language that’s being used now to stop Muslims from coming in is the same language that was used to stop Jewish refugees from coming.”
