President Barack Obama’s pick for the Supreme Court, Merrick Garland, heads for Capitol Hill on Thursday to begin his one-on-one “courtesy call” meetings with senators. One major stumbling block is Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, whose allies say will never agree to hold hearings on Garland’s nomination, reports The Washington Post. Garland’s possible problems with Republicans include his reportedly liberal view of guns rights, according to The Washington Times.
