Margaret Thatcher, the Last of the Great Anti-Communist Trio, RIP

Tue Apr 9, 2013 AT 6:00 AM EDT

Margaret Thatcher, Britain’s Iron Lady, and the last of the great anti-Communist trio which also included President Reagan and Pope John Paul II passed away Monday at the age of 87. The NYT, Guardian, and WaPo report. And George Will quotes, “Unless we change our ways and our direction, our greatness as a nation will soon be a footnote in the history books, a distant memory of an offshore island, lost in the mists of time like Camelot, remembered kindly for its noble past” – a statement which might be just as apt today in America.  POLITICO recounts Thatcher’s US legacy.
