President Obama promised Tuesday to discuss ObamaCare and spending policy with Republicans, but only if they pass legislation to raise the debt ceiling and fund the federal government, reports The Hill. Speaker John Boehner, however, rejected the offer, calling it an offer of “unconditional surrender” for Republicans and, and stating, “That’s not the way Americ works.” In the Senate, Sen. Harry Reid has begun moving legislation to increase the debt limit by $1.1 trillion – and Senate liberals have threatened the ‘nuclear option’ to end any potential Republican filibuster. Finally, the Washington Post reports investors are showing increasing concerns over a potential debt default and Rep. Paul Ryan proposes a fix in the Wall Street Journal.
