More Americans trust the Republican Party to handle the economy and national security as Americans’ approval of the Democratic Party continues to fall, according to a Gallup poll released Monday.
The poll, conducted in September, found that since last year the Republican Party’s favorability went up 4 points to 44% while the Democratic Party’s fell by the same amount to 39%. When asked which party would do a better job protecting the nation against international terrorism and military threats, 57% of participants favored the GOP, outpacing the Democratic Party by 20 points. Americans also trust the GOP to do a better job handling the economy by a 10-point margin.
Gallup reports that the Democratic Party’s approval ratings are 12 points below their 51% trend average, their worst rating since March 2015. The Republican Party’s ratings remain consistent with their trend average since 1992. Read Full Story
