The Telegraph reports President Obama informed a small group of Senators that a 50-man cell of CIA-trained Syrian rebels was making its way into Syria. Meanwhile, in Washington, Secretary of State John Kerry made the Obama administration’s case for bombing Syria today to a Senate committee, where he refused to rule out the possibility of ground troops, then backtracked if that’s what it would take to win Congressional approval. On the other side of Capitol Hill, House Speaker John Boehner announced that he will support President Obama on Syria. ABC reports that public opinion is solidly against taking any action in Syria. In lighter news, a Washington Post photographer busted Sen. John McCain playing smart-phone poker in the middle of the three hour hearing on Syria.
