As revealed by Edward Snowden, online gamers are being secretly watched by the NSA, reports the Guardian. Real-life agents were sent to World of Warcraft and Second Life to monitor gamers – and, in s few cases, to recruit potential informants. According to the documents released, so many different intelligence agents were spying in the games that a special group had to be created just to make sure they weren’t merely spying on or getting in each other’s way. ProPublica has more details on exactly what they did, and how they did it.
