Ukraine counter-attacked Russian separatists in the key city of Slovyansk yesterday, reports the Wall Street Journal. The offensive was met with resistance, as militants shot down at least two helicopters. The New York Times reports Russia responded by declaring “all hope” had been lost for a tentative peace agreement reached two weeks ago.
