President Barack Obama is traveling to Texas to promote technology-based education, training and jobs as he seeks support in Congress for economic initiatives he proposed earlier this year, Bloomberg is reporting. Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz welcomed President Obama to Texas Thursday, “perhaps he will learn how to create” jobs “from the folks who know how” Cruz said, according to the Daily Caller.

Republican Gov. Rick Perry said Texas was “the right place” for President Barack Obama to visit  to tout economic growth, the UPI reports. Texas ranks 18th in unemployment, while President Obama’s home state of Illinois ranks dead last, according to the  Bureau of Labor Statistics.
