The U.S. House moved a short-term government funding bill over the weekend which also delayed ObamaCare’s individual mandate for one year and repealed a tax on medical devices, reports Politico. In response, the Senate did nothing, planning to reconvene as regularly scheduled on Monday afternoon, an act which Speaker John Boehner said was “of breathtaking arrogance.” Boehner told the Wall Street Journal, “They will be deliberately bringing the nation to the brink of a government shutdown for the sake of raising taxes on seniors’ pacemakers and children’s hearing aids and plowing ahead with the train wreck that is the president’s health care law.” The New York Times reports House GOP leaders still believe a shutdown could be averted, and National Review reports a third bill is already in the works if the Senate rejects this weekend’s.
