Conservatives Blast Paul Ryan’s Bi-Partisan Budget Deal

Wed Dec 11, 2013 AT 8:21 AM EST

Rep. Paul Ryan and Sen. Patty Murray agreed to a budget deal Tuesday afternoon to fund the federal government for two years by ending half of the sequester spending cuts for the current and future years. The Washington Post’s WonkBlog details the deal. Newsmax reports, however, that many conservatives are blasting the deal because it increases spending without enacting any last reforms to entitlement programs like Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid. Senators Marco Rubio and Rand Paul both oppose the deal. Sen. Paul explained, “There is a recurring theme in Washington budget negotiations. It’s ‘I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.”
