At the top of Congress’ to-do list as lawmakers return to Washington, D.C., following their recess is how to reach an agreement to fund the government beyond the Sept. 30 deadline.
The House and Senate have 14 legislative days to reach an agreement on a stopgap bill to avert a shutdown amid a contentious political climate.
