Gun Showdown Starts in Senate as 16 Republicans Vote Against Filibuster

POLITICO reports on the opening salvo in the Senate’s effort at gun control. Sixteen Republicans voted Thursday to shut off a filibuster, starting what will be a drawn out affair. POLITICO notes Republicans are expected to offer dozens, and perhaps hundreds, of amendments to the bill and debate might take the next few weeks.
