House Approves Bill to Avoid Shutdown; Poll: Independent Trump Would Help Clinton

In an overwhelming 316-113 vote on Friday, the House has backed an enormous $1.1 trillion spending package that avoids a government shutdown and funds federal agencies through next fall, reports CNN. One of the bill’s big “winners” is the US Department of Education, which will see a $1.2 billion increase in funding, according to the US News & World Report.
