Obama Asks Putin to Remove Troops as Fears Grow

Fri Mar 28, 2014 AT 8:30 AM EDT

President Obama called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to remove tens of thousands of Russian troops amassed near the Ukrainian border. Obama’s ask comes in the midst of growing concern at the Pentagon that Russia is plotting an invasion of southeastern Ukraine. According to the Wall Street Journal, Russian troops are actively attempting to hide their movements in the region. Military experts say the concealment efforts suggest the movements are not a mere military exercise, but instead preparations for an actual invasion. Charles Krauthammer replays what’s happened so far in Obama v. Putin, the Mismatch.
