Obama Delays Individual Mandate, Chaos Predicted

Fri Dec 20, 2013 AT 8:23 AM EST

President Obama announced late Wednesday that Americans whose health insurance policies were cancelled as a result of new ObamaCare regulations would be exempt from the law’s individual mandate, reports the Washington Post. To claim the exemption, an American with a cancelled merely has to assert that they believe the ObamaCare options are too expensive. The White House claims the change will be limited and affect fewer than 500,000 people, but Fox News reports that insurance companies are fuming over Obama’s continuing pattern of changing the rules. And Avik Roy predicts “utter chaos” in his Forbes column.
