The most controversial part of the NSA’s monitoring of American phone records may end soon, reports Newsmax. In a turnaround, the Obama administration is set to announce support for legislation to ban the direct bulk tracking of phone, email, and Internet records by the federal government. Instead, the government would have access to databases kept by private companies, but only after a hearing in Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.
