US Decries Russian Airstrikes in Syria; Taliban Dig in at Kunduz

Russia’s fast-moving efforts to prop up the government of Bashar al-Assad took a new turn as it launched its first airstrikes in Syria, The Washington Post reports. Saudi Arabia, however, insists Assad must go or be overthrown, AFP reports.
