The State Department late Wednesday night raised its global travel advisory to level three and pleaded with U.S. citizens to reconsider going abroad due to the “global impact” of the novel coronavirus, as health officials warned that the outbreak would only worsen in the ensuing days and weeks.

“The Department of State advises U.S. citizens to reconsider travel abroad due to the global impact of COVID-19,” the department advisory reads. “Many areas throughout the world are now experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks and taking action that may limit traveler mobility, including quarantines and border restrictions. Even countries, jurisdictions, or areas where cases have not been reported may restrict travel without notice.” Read Full Story

President Donald Trump on Monday took his biggest step to address the economic fallout of the coronavirus, saying he will ask Congress to approve a payroll tax cut and relief for hourly workers.

Trump called for the tax cut during an appearance at the White House briefing room, where Vice President Pence tried to reassure the public that the risk for the average person remains low.

Fears that coronavirus represents a major threat to both public health and the economy grew dramatically Monday amid school closures, lawmakers quarantining themselves, and a growing number of U.S. cases. Read Full Story

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell plans to rip Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer Thursday over his remarks that two Supreme Court justices would “pay the price” on abortion.

McConnell will denounce the New York Democrat and his comments on the Senate floor, alleging the minority leader threatened Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh.

“Contrary to what the Democratic leader has tried to claim, he very clearly was not addressing Republican lawmakers or anybody else,” McConnell plans to say, his office confirmed. “He literally directed the statement to the justices, by name.” Read Full Story
