U.S. lawmakers on Sunday called on President Donald Trump to turn over any tapes of conversations with fired FBI chief James Comey, potentially setting up a showdown with the White House as Democrats consider boycotting the vote on Comey’s replacement, reports Reuters. “You can’t be cute about tapes,” said Republican Senator Lindsey Graham. “If there are any tapes of this conversation, they need to be turned over,” Graham told NBC’s “Meet the Press” program.

President Trump on Friday warned James B. Comey, the former F.B.I. director he fired this week, against leaking anything negative about the president and put the news media on notice that he may cancel future White House briefings, reports The New York Times.

Acting FBI director Andrew McCabe vowed Thursday that he would tell the Senate Intelligence Committee if the White House tried to interfere with the bureau’s probe of possible coordination between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign to influence the 2016 presidential election — though he asserted that there had “been no effort to impede our investigation to date,” reports The Washington Post.
