DOJ Labels Fox News Reporter a National Security Threat

Tue May 21, 2013 AT 11:13 AM EDT

Fox News reporter James Rosen was the target of an intense federal probe labeling him a threat to national security for possible leaks of classified information about North Korea, the Washington Post reports. The Post includes the actual affidavit for a search warrant seeking permission to track Rosen’s communications, which labels Rosen a ‘co-conspirator.’

Rosen, the network’s chief Washington correspondent, has become a First Amendment cause celebre over his treatment by the Obama administration. According to National Review, the very same month Justice’s probe into Rosen’s story began, the president complained about a “certain cable network” devoted entirely to attacking his administration. The administration went on to try to exclude Fox from the network pool that covers the White House.
