After four nights of tense protests, the suburban St. Louis community of Ferguson returned to peace last night, the New York Times reports. The shift came after Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon replaced local law enforcement with state Highway Patrol officers to control police response. ABC News reports Capt. Ron Johnson, the commander of the Highway Patrol put in charge, eased tensions by joining the marchers last night.
