Former President Donald Trump closed out his campaign showcasing the families of the victims of the estimated 13,000 convicted killers and nearly 16,000 sex offenders who are in the U.S. illegally.

On Monday, Trump turned over the microphone at one of his final campaign rallies to Patty Morin, the mother of a Maryland woman who was murdered, allegedly by an illegal immigrant. 

After Morin spoke of the “hardships that have been inflicted on us that are unnecessary,” Trump promised, “The day I take the oath of office, the migrant invasion ends, and the restoration of our country begins.” Read Full Story

House Speaker Mike Johnson has developed a playbook for a Republican-controlled Congress to jump-start Donald Trump’s second-term agenda, should he win the presidency. The plan addresses the top issues for voters: immigration and the economy.

“We’d be prepared to lead on Day One in the new Congress,” Johnson said, adding he felt he would have “a larger majority to work with” in the House after the elections. 

He called the trifecta of a Republican-run House, Senate, and White House a “magic” moment for the country. Read Full Story

Some Republican senators want former President Donald Trump to play a role in electing the next Senate Republican leader, hoping for a change after Sen. Mitch McConnell’s 18-year run. 

While Republican Sens. John Thune of South Dakota and John Cornyn of Texas are eyeing the position, Trump could throw his political weight behind another candidate like Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., or Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont.

“If Republicans win the majority in the Senate and if Trump wins the White House, I think it’s going to be very important for whoever our next Republican leader is to work closely with President Trump and his team,” said Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah. Read Full Story
