Anyone out there remember details from the infamous, anonymous New York Times op-ed? Anyone? It was just one in a long line of intense, coordinated, strategic attacks on President Trump and his administration which arrive like clockwork daily, and every other word is “chaos.”

Endless attacks are not without risk, though. They can backfire. They are short-lived. They can annoy a weary public already saturated with negative politics.

“Between the op-ed, the Bob Woodward book, hurricane season bearing down, and whatever media-induced scandal tomorrow brings in addition to the daily business of running the country — the White House has neither the time nor the resources to focus on this dishonorable act. Donald Trump Jr. lamented on ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Tuesday that the number of White House aides his father trusts is “much smaller” in the wake of allegations that some inside the Trump administration have sought to subvert portions of the president’s agenda.

“I think there are people in there that he can trust, it’s just — it’s a much smaller group than I would like it to be,” Trump Jr. said during the ABC interview.

“It would be easier to get things done if you’re able to fully trust everyone around you,” Trump Jr. added. “I think that’s a shame.”

The Trump administration has worked over the past week to push back against the latest wave of damaging reports to emerge from the White House, including a New York Times op-ed penned by an anonymous senior administration official and an incendiary book by veteran Washington journalist Bob Woodward. Both paint a picture of President Donald Trump as impetuous, impulsive, and petty, detailing how some inside the administration have endeavored to stop him from taking certain actions… Reports Politico

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation was star-crossed from the start. His friend and successor as FBI director, James Comey, by his own admission prompted the investigation — with the deliberate leaking of classified memos about his conversations with President Donald Trump to the press.

Mueller then unnecessarily stocked his team with what the press called his “dream team” of mostly Democratic partisans. One had defended a Hillary Clinton employee. Another had defended the Clinton Foundation.

Mueller did not at first announce to the press why he had dismissed Trump-hating FBI operatives Lisa Page and Peter Strzok from his investigative team. Instead, he staggered their departures to leave the impression they were routine reassignments.

But Mueller’s greatest problem was his original mandate to discover whether Trump colluded with the Russians in 2016 to tilt the election in his favor… Reports the National Review
