The resignation of President Trump’s national security adviser Michael Flynn could complicate his Wednesday meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, since Flynn was Netanyahu’s strongest supporter in the White House for pressuring Iran, reports The New York Times. Moreover, the influence of Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner as an aspiring Middle East peacemaker has increased the president’s desire for an Israeli-Palestinian peace initiative, something which Netanyahu may not be eager to discuss.

The Washington Post reports that acting Attorney General Sally Q. Yates informed the Trump White House late last month that she believed Michael Flynn had misled senior administration officials about the nature of his communications with the Russian ambassador to the U.S., and warned that the national security adviser was potentially vulnerable to Russian blackmail, current and former U.S. officials said.
