Congressional Republicans are vowing to keep investigating Anthony Fauci even after he steps down from his government roles at the end of the year.
“Retirement can’t shield Dr. Fauci from congressional oversight,” House Oversight and Reform Committee ranking member James Comer, R-Ky., said in a statement.
“It’s good to know that with his retirement, Dr. Fauci will have ample time to appear before Congress and share under oath what he knew about the Wuhan lab, as well as the ever-changing guidance under his watch that resulted in wrongful mandates being imposed on Americans,” House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., who is also ranking member on the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, said in a statement. New funding for the Internal Revenue Service authorized by President Joe Biden has emerged as the biggest target for Republicans in attacking Democrats’ recently passed health and climate legislation. The GOP has vociferously rejected portions of the Inflation Reduction Act that involve an increase in funding for the IRS by $80 billion over the next decade. This week, GOP Florida Sen. Rick Scott encouraged job seekers not to apply for the new jobs being created at the IRS as a result of the legislation, vowing, “Republicans will take over the House and Senate in January, and I can promise you that we will immediately do everything in our power to defund this insane and unwarranted expansion of government into the lives of the American people.” Read Full Story
