President Donald Trump assailed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., in a series of tweets early Thursday, saying she should “clean up” her “filthy” and “dirty” district and suggesting she should face a primary challenger in 2020.

Trump, who repeated his earlier characterizations of Pelosi as “crazy,” continued his theme of lashing out at Democrats roughly a week after the House voted largely along party lines to pass articles of impeachment accusing him of abusing his office and obstructing Congress.

Trump has taken particular issue with Pelosi over her decision to delay sending the two articles of impeachment to the Senate until the rules for the impeachment trial in the upper chamber are made clear. President Donald Trump early Thursday accused Democrats of wanting to “Do Nothing” with the articles of impeachment that passed the House late Wednesday. 

“I got Impeached last might without one Republican vote being cast with the Do Nothing Dems on their continuation of the greatest Witch Hunt in American history,” he tweeted. 

“Now the Do Nothing Party want to Do Nothing with the Articles & not deliver them to the Senate, but it’s Senate’s call!” he added. Read Full Story

House Republicans are gearing up to make life as difficult as possible for Democrats in the impeachment articles markup hearing on Tuesday, signaling they have no intention of allowing Democrats to coast smoothly into their high-stakes vote to impeach President Donald Trump later this week.

In a House Rules Committee markup scheduled for Tuesday morning, GOP lawmakers are expected to amplify their protests against Democrats’ two articles of impeachment — abuse of power and obstruction of Congress — that argue Trump’s actions in Ukraine rise to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors.

The Rules hearing follows closely on the heels of public impeachment forums staged by two other House panels — Intelligence and Judiciary — and it’s the last stop on the committee circuit before the Democrats bring those two articles to the House floor on Wednesday. Read More
