A Republican congressman from Texas praised President Donald Trump for his action towards ending the immigration crisis taking place at the U.S.-Mexico border, proclaiming that the president’s proposed border wall would help Mexico and other countries in Central and South America.

While giving an interview on Fox News’ “Lou Dobbs Tonight” on Monday, Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert — who serves on the powerful House Judiciary Committee — was pressed for his thoughts on the crisis taking place at the southern border. 

Gohmert responded by lauding Trump for his proposed border wall, praising the plan as the “most single compassionate thing” that the country could do to help Mexico and the countries in Central and South America where thousands of migrants are leaving to try and enter the U.S.  Read Full Story

Most Americans see a vast disconnect between their national political leaders and their everyday lives, with nearly seven in 10 voters saying the Democratic and Republican parties have abandoned them, according to a national poll released Thursday.

An Ipsos-University of Virginia Center for Politics national poll found that a whopping 69% of voters — 64% of Democrats and 74% of Republicans — said the “traditional parties and politicians don’t care about people like me.”

The online poll showed that 71% of respondents — 79% of Democrats and 63% of Republicans — shared the view that “America needs a strong leader to take the country back from the rich and powerful”; and 70% — 84% of Democrats and 49% of Republicans — said “the American economy is rigged to advantage the rich and powerful.” Read Full Story

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said on Tuesday that the Senate will vote next week on disaster recovery legislation, even if negotiators haven’t reached a deal.

“We’re going to have a vote next week,” McConnell told reporters during a weekly press conference.

McConnell added that he hopes the vote will be on a bipartisan agreement President Donald Trump would sign. But regardless, he warned that he will force a vote before Congress leaves town for a weeklong Memorial Day recess. Read Full Story
